120-run stand Between Two Debutants: Rizwan & Shakeel

We have seen a remarkable performance from the Worldcup Debutant – Rachin Ravindra – in the opening match of ICC CWC23 yesterday where the youngster scored brilliant 100 against top bowling lineup and stunned England. 

Today, in match 2 of Cricket Worldcup India, 2 Pakistani batters: Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, are debuting at Worldcup 2023. Rizwan came to crease when Pkistan were 33/2 while Shakeel entered into the competition when imam was out on 38 in the 10th over.  

Saud Shakeel showcased his talent in his 5th match of the ODI career. Under-pressure, middle order batter played sensibly together with Rizwan and completed his half century in just 32 balls striking at 256.25. This was the 2nd fastest fifty in the ODI worldcups for Pakistan. Inzamam holds the record for the fastet worldcup fifty for Pakistani in 31 balls.

Muhammad Rizwan also reached his 58 abll fifty in the 26th over of the innings which included six 4s while Saud Shakeel hit seven 4s and one 6. The hundred run stand between these 2 batters was completed in just 92 balls. 

Pakistan crossed 150 mark in the 27th over for the loss of 3 early wickets. Unfortunately, Shakeels tow-edge resulted in his dismissal. He left after scoring 68 off 52. His knock included 10 boundaries altogether. 

120-run stand off 117 was broken in the 29th over but his brave cameo leaves Pakistan in a better situation and platform is set for the big total as Iftikhar, Shadab and Nawaz still to come. 

Pakistan were 158 for 4 in 28.1 with RR of 5.6 in 2nd match of ICC Men’s Cricket Worldcup 2023.
