Italian sources report that AC Milan has reached an agreement with Young Boys for the transfer of right-back Zachary Athekame. He is anticipated to follow Ardon Jashari in moving to San Siro.
Milan has been actively seeking a new right-back this summer, having opted against a permanent deal for Kyle Walker and completing the sale of Emerson Royal to Flamengo.
The Rossoneri`s search for defensive reinforcements led them to Bern, Switzerland, where they identified youth international Athekame.
Milan Finalizes Deal for Athekame
According to reports from Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan`s agreement with Young Boys is valued at approximately €9 million in total. This follows an earlier €7 million bid that was rejected by the Swiss club last week.
Athekame`s reported transfer comes just a day after Milan finalized terms for his fellow countryman, Ardon Jashari. Jashari has since arrived in Italy and is undergoing medical examinations ahead of his €37 million move from Club Brugge.
These acquisitions contribute to a bustling summer transfer period for the club, which has also welcomed prominent players such as former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, Italian international Samuele Ricci, ex-Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan, and reserve goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano.
