According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan is now actively increasing its efforts to sign KAA Gent`s left-back, Archie Brown. The club`s strategy is reportedly aimed at securing the player quickly to prevent the development of a potentially costly bidding war.
The Rossoneri recently completed the transfer of Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal. This move, reportedly worth €25 million plus performance-related add-ons, also significantly reduced Milan`s wage expenditure. With Hernandez`s departure, finding a suitable replacement for the left-back position has become a priority. Although several candidates were considered, Romano indicated earlier this evening that Milan has made the decision to fully concentrate on acquiring Brown.
Key Reasons Milan is Targeting Brown
The English defender is particularly appealing due to his versatility. He is capable of playing effectively as a traditional left-back, moving into a more advanced attacking role on the flank, or even featuring in central defence. Given that other Serie A clubs, such as Lazio and Torino, had previously shown interest, Milan is reportedly keen to finalize the transfer agreement promptly to preempt and overcome any potential competition from rivals.
KAA Gent originally signed Brown from Lausanne-Sport in 2023 for a modest fee of just €4 million. His current contract with the Belgian club runs until June 2027. During the most recent football season, Brown was a consistent performer, making a total of 46 appearances in competitive matches across all competitions for Gent. In these appearances, he contributed offensively by scoring three goals and providing six assists.
