Franco Baresi, the revered football legend who graced the fields for both AC Milan and the Italian national team, has recently undergone a successful surgical procedure to address a pulmonary nodule. The 65-year-old former defender is now poised to commence a course of immunotherapy as part of his recovery.
In his continuing capacity as Honorary Vice President for the Rossoneri, the club released an official statement to inform the public about Baresi`s health. The statement clarified that the pulmonary nodule was removed using a minimally invasive surgical technique, and happily, his post-operative recovery has been smooth and entirely without complications.
Following a thorough evaluation, an oncology specialist recommended a consolidative immunotherapy regimen to support Baresi`s long-term health and recovery.

AC Milan also conveyed a heartfelt message directly from Baresi. He shared, “Dear fans, I simply wanted to let you know that it will take me a little time to regain my full strength. I am profoundly grateful to AC Milan and to all of you for your unwavering support. A big hug, with affection.”
Having celebrated his 65th birthday in May, Baresi famously dedicated his entire professional playing career to AC Milan. He rose through the club`s youth academy ranks, joining the senior squad in 1977 and remaining a loyal and integral part of the team until his retirement in July 1997.
During his illustrious tenure, the legendary central defender amassed an astonishing 716 competitive appearances for the Rossoneri, contributing 33 goals and providing 24 assists. His remarkable list of accolades with Milan includes three European Cups, six Serie A titles, three UEFA Super Cups, four Italian Super Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups.
Beyond his phenomenal club achievements, Baresi also carved out an exceptional career for the Italian national team, earning 81 senior caps and playing a pivotal role in Italy`s triumphant 1982 FIFA World Cup winning campaign.
