AS Monaco commenced their UEFA Champions League campaign with a humbling 4-1 defeat at the hands of Club Brugge in Belgium on Thursday evening. Following the match, head coach Adi Hutter offered a sincere apology for his team`s lacklustre performance.
Speaking to the press, the Monaco manager began by acknowledging the gravity of the situation: “It was not merely a defeat; it was a substantial one. My congratulations go to Club Brugge for their victory, which they absolutely merited.”
Hutter further elaborated on the team`s shortcomings, stating, “Our presence on the pitch tonight was simply not reflective of Champions League quality. We were outfought in almost every challenge and displayed poor organization. Within the initial 30 minutes, Club Brugge had facile opportunities to score, and truthfully, we were fortunate that the score was only 3-0 at that point. This showing was entirely uncharacteristic of Monaco`s usual style of play. We also owe an apology to our dedicated fans, approximately 600 of whom traveled to support us. It is imperative that we analyze this performance with utmost speed, particularly with our next fixture against FC Metz in Ligue 1 scheduled for Sunday.”
