Abhijeet Deshmukh, a spokeswoman for HRA-Gujarat, told PTI that “if hoteliers believe that demand is really high for a specific period, they will try to make some money since they are confident that rooms will be filled despite increased rates. The cost of renting a room will likewise decline as demand declines.”
Deshmukh also pointed out that while the costs of luxury hotels have increased, the costs of cheap hotels have not, as middle-class cricket fans favour these accommodations while deciding last-minute where to watch the game.
Rise in Hotel Rates for Ind vs Pak World Cup 2023 Encounter
Rates on several hotel booking services indicate that there may have been an unusually high demand for rooms on October 15, when the two archrivals will play at the Narendra Modi stadium.
In the city, the average daily room rate for luxury hotels is between Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000. For October 15, it has increased to Rs 40,000 and Rs 1 lakh in select locations.
According to “booking.com,” a deluxe room at the city’s Welcome Hotel by ITC Hotels would cost you Rs 5,699 on July 2. But on October 15, the same hotel will charge Rs 71,999 for a day’s stay.
