AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri cautioned his squad that maintaining concentration was straightforward when facing high-profile teams like Arsenal and Liverpool. He emphasized that their upcoming friendly match against Perth Glory would be a true test, revealing `how much we`ve progressed in terms of respecting the opponent.`
Allegri addressed the media on Wednesday, prior to the friendly clash with Perth Glory, which marks the conclusion of the Rossoneri`s pre-season tour in Asia.
Allegri`s Warning Ahead of Perth Glory Friendly

“We are nearing the end of our tour, and we`ve put in good work. It’s crucial that we play seriously and show respect for our opponents, who will undoubtedly give their best,” Allegri stated to reporters.
“This match presents a significant challenge for them, but equally so for us. It`s a vital opportunity to enhance our physical conditioning and refine our tactical approach.”
“Furthermore, it`s a crucial mental assessment, as staying focused against teams like Arsenal and Liverpool was relatively simple. Tomorrow, we will gauge our mental fortitude and our ability to respect every opponent.”
Having been under Allegri’s guidance for almost a month, the Italian strategist was asked for his thoughts on the impending Serie A title race.
“As the reigning champions, Napoli are clearly the favorites for the Scudetto,” he remarked.
“Following them, Inter stands out as a strong contender, having maintained excellent performance for years. Beyond that, Juventus, Atalanta, Roma, Fiorentina, and Lazio are all poised to compete fiercely for a top-four finish. While our absence from European competitions allows for full-week training, AC Milan ultimately needs to participate in the Champions League to truly challenge ourselves against elite clubs and experience the heightened intensity of European football.”
Allegri Anticipates Gimenez and Modric Return
Having concluded the 2024-25 season in eighth place, AC Milan will not be participating in any European competitions this year.

Santiago Gimenez and Luka Modric are set to rejoin training at Milanello within days. Both players received extended leave due to their recent commitments with international duties and the Club World Cup.
“They will integrate with the main squad, while certain young talents will return to Milan Futuro and the Primavera youth team,” Allegri concluded.
“This approach will guide our preparations for the final fortnight leading up to our Coppa Italia opener against Bari. Estupinan is a capable player, and he is adapting well to a squad built on strong values, both on and off the field.”
