Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Arnau Tenas, 24, has officially completed a permanent transfer to La Liga club Villarreal. Both clubs have confirmed the deal, which reportedly sees the Spanish side paying a transfer fee of €6 million to the French champions. Villarreal will be participating in the Champions League this upcoming season.
The Spanish international made only eight appearances during his time with PSG. He has signed a four-year contract with Marcelino’s squad, securing his long-term future with the Yellow Submarine.
Limited Opportunities in Paris
Tenas initially joined PSG from Barcelona on a free transfer two summers ago. However, his opportunities for consistent playing time were significantly restricted due to the intense competition in the goalkeeping department. Throughout his tenure, Gianluigi Donnarumma remained the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for the Parisian club.
Furthermore, PSG continued to reinforce its goalkeeping options, further limiting Tenas` prospects. Matvey Safonov was brought in as a backup to Donnarumma, and more recently, Lucas Chevalier arrived with the reported intention of eventually replacing Donnarumma. The addition of Renato Marin also served to bolster the club’s depth in goal, making it increasingly challenging for Tenas to secure a regular starting position.
