Twenty-year-old Jérémy Jacquet has demonstrated significant progress over the past year. Just twelve months ago, he was commencing a loan spell with Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot. However, his impressive performances in the second division, coupled with defensive vulnerabilities at Stade Rennais, led to his recall by his parent club in January.
Following his return, Jacquet established himself as a regular starter under new manager Habib Beye during the latter half of the season, playing a crucial role in helping Rennes navigate away from relegation danger. His strong displays were rewarded with a new contract, which now secures his future at the club until the summer of 2029. Furthermore, his 11 appearances in Ligue 1 were sufficient to earn him a call-up to France’s U21 squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in the young French defender, initiating contact regarding a potential move. The Premier League club`s interest is understood to be contingent on possible departures from their defensive ranks in the upcoming months. Jacquet is also being considered as a viable transfer option for Arsenal next summer.
