AS Roma is reportedly open to selling striker Artem Dovbyk this summer. This decision comes after Evan Ferguson, currently on loan from Brighton, delivered an impressive pre-season performance, making him a strong candidate to secure a starting role in the upcoming Serie A match against Bologna.
The Roman club is actively awaiting offers for Dovbyk, who is only commencing his second season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Evan Ferguson`s Stellar Pre-Season at Roma

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia on Thursday afternoon, the Ukrainian international has experienced a significant drop in Gian Piero Gasperini`s tactical hierarchy. Dovbyk participated in 305 minutes of pre-season football, managing to score just one goal. In stark contrast, Ferguson, after his move from Brighton, featured in the starting eleven for four summer friendlies, impressively netting five goals in a mere 281 minutes on the pitch.
Angelo Mangiante, Sky Sport`s correspondent based at Trigoria, highlighted that Coach Gasperini is particularly content with Ferguson`s active involvement in the team`s build-up play, a quality he seemingly found lacking in Dovbyk`s performances.
Roma Contemplates Dovbyk`s Departure

Dovbyk faced similar challenges last season regarding his integral role in team play, despite having a commendable goal tally of 17 goals across all competitions. Furthermore, in the 2024-25 season, he scored only one goal from open play against Roma`s direct competitors – a penalty against Bologna.
AS Roma would not object to Dovbyk`s sale this summer. Reports from Matteo Moretto suggest that the former Girona star has already received a transfer offer from Napoli. Should Dovbyk depart the Olimpico in the coming weeks, the Giallorossi would then aim to secure a new centre-forward.
As the first Serie A game of the season against Bologna approaches on August 23rd, Evan Ferguson appears to be the strong favorite to earn a place in the starting lineup.
