AS Roma delivered a subpar performance this evening, notably lacking a decisive edge, as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Lille at the Stadio Olimpico in their UEFA Europa League fixture.
The visiting side, Lille, seized an early lead courtesy of an Icelandic forward Haraldsson. They resolutely defended this advantage, weathering a relentless offensive onslaught from Roma throughout the match.

Dovbyk`s Costly Misses in Roma`s Defeat
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini introduced several substitutions to invigorate the game, including bringing on Artem Dovbyk to replace Evan Ferguson.
The Ukrainian striker had an immediate opportunity to make a significant impact when Roma was awarded a penalty following a Lille handball. However, Dovbyk failed to convert not just one, but two penalty attempts, both of which had to be retaken due to opponent encroachment.
Despite the retakes, Dovbyk couldn`t find the net. The third penalty was then taken by Matias Soule, but it too was heroically saved by Lille`s goalkeeper Ozer, denying Roma a crucial equalizer.
