Aston Villa Reach Agreement Over Marco Bizot Transfer

Football & Cricket

Aston Villa and French club Brest have agreed terms for the transfer of Dutch international goalkeeper Marco Bizot, aged 34. Reports indicate that the goalkeeper was granted permission to travel to Birmingham on Sunday to finalize his departure from Stade Brestois, where he spent four seasons in Brittany. Aston Villa is reportedly arranging for a jet to collect Bizot from Brest later today. The specifics of Bizot`s contract with Aston Villa are reportedly still being finalized.

Bizot was set to enter the final year of his existing contract with the Ligue 1 side. Brest authorized the Dutch international`s summer move as a recognition of his contributions to the club. It is understood that Bizot is expected to serve as a backup option at Aston Villa. However, his potential role as understudy to Emiliano Martinez is not guaranteed, as the 2022 World Cup-winning goalkeeper could still potentially leave Villa Park during the current transfer window.

Following Bizot`s impending departure, Brest will now focus their efforts on finding a new first-choice goalkeeper in the transfer market. Previous reports have linked Brest with an interest in Nantes` goalkeeper, Alban Lafont.
