Aston Villa is reportedly leading the pursuit to sign Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, who is 34 years old. The Dutch player is expected to leave the Ligue 1 club, also known as Les Ty-Zeffs, as he is set to begin the final year of his current contract. Unai Emery`s team, Aston Villa, has shown significant interest, and discussions between the clubs are said to be intensifying.
It is understood that Bizot is not necessarily being brought in to challenge Emiliano Martinez for the primary goalkeeper position, given that the Argentina international is tied to Aston Villa on a long-term deal set to run until 2029. While clubs in the Saudi Pro League and recently promoted Premier League side Leeds United have also made their interest known, Aston Villa is currently considered to be in the strongest position to secure the signing of Bizot, recognized as one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in Ligue 1.
