Atalanta has released its 23-player squad for the initial Serie A fixture of the 2025-26 season against newly-promoted Pisa, scheduled for Sunday evening. As confirmed, Ademola Lookman has been excluded following his unsuccessful efforts to depart the club during the summer transfer window.
Lookman Excluded from Atalanta`s Squad Against Pisa
Earlier this summer, Atalanta turned down a €45m transfer offer from Inter for Lookman. This rejection prompted the Nigerian international to formally request a transfer, accompanied by a statement where he accused the club of failing to uphold commitments and of treating him unprofessionally and inhumanely.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi subsequently affirmed that an understanding existed to permit Lookman`s departure this summer, provided a suitable offer originated from a `top` club outside Italy`s top flight.

Subsequently, Lookman took an unsanctioned two-week leave, returning to the UK in anticipation of a potential transfer to Inter. However, the Nerazzurri ultimately withdrew from the deal, opting instead to sign midfielder Andy Diouf as part of a revised transfer approach.
Currently, Lookman is undergoing individual training at Atalanta and has not been named in the squad for Sunday’s match against Pisa.
Conversely, new acquisitions Nikola Krstovic, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and 17-year-old Honest Ahanor have all secured spots in the Atalanta squad.

Additionally, Italian internationals Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca are included, marking their return after injury-plagued 2024-25 seasons.
The match between Atalanta and Pisa is scheduled to kick off at 19:45 BST.
