Atlético Madrid has been hit with another setback regarding their squad. Midfielder Pablo Barrios has unfortunately sustained a new injury.
The young talent was making his return to the starting lineup for the recent La Liga match against Athletic Club, his first start since early March. However, his comeback was cut short.
During the second half of the 3-2 victory over Athletic Club, Barrios was forced to leave the field prematurely. He went down clutching his left leg after a challenge with Yuri Berchiche and was visibly in pain, unable to continue.
Manager Diego Simeone had to substitute the 22-year-old. As a consequence of this latest injury, Barrios is now set to miss Atlético’s crucial Champions League semi-final first-leg tie against Arsenal.
