Match No. 14 of ICC Men’s ODI CWC23 is underway at Lucknow where Australia and Sri Lanka are facing each other. Both teams have lost their initial games in ICC WCW23 and in pursuit of their 1st win of the tournament. AUS seem to have a very good chance to register their first win in the ICC CWC23.

Earlier in the game, SL Skipper, Kusal Mendis chose to bat first on the flat looking track. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka’s poor streak against AUS in ICC CWC continues as they are unable to post a handsome total for their bowlers to bowl at as they are bowled out for 209 against AUS in the 44th over.

AUS pacers and spinners take control of the game after the 21st over as SL openers dominated the 1st half of the match. Only both openers play some brilliant shots against spin and pace but suddenly Sri Lanka’s sudden collapse set AUS into the driving seat for their first win in the CWC23.

AUS employee 2 spinners in their whole bowling line-up besides 4 pacers. Adam Zampa and Maxwell bowl 17.3 overs conceding 83 runs with the economy of 4.74 averaging 16.6. Both Aussie succeed grabbing 5 wickets in the first innings against SL. Adam Zampa picks 4 wickets while Maxwell gets the final one. Furthermore, both spinners concede only 7 boundaries in their 17.3 overs.

Moreover, the pick of the spinners for AUS is none other than Adam Zampa himself who bowls 26 dot deliveries out of his 8 overs. His dot percentage is 54.17 with averaging under 12. He gives away 47 runs only at 5.87 conceding 5 boundaries only. He gets the wickets of Mendis, Smarawickrama, Karunaratne and Theekshana.

The 2nd successive spinner for AUS is none other than Glenn Maxwell who bowls 30 dot delivers out of his 9.3 over quota. His dot percentage is 52.63 averaging 36. He concedes 36 runs at 3.78 while allowing only 2 boundaries. He proves an economical option and keep the opponents under pressure.

The Australian spin department too don’t let Sri Lankan batter to free their arms and rotate strikes after the 1st wicket falls. As they collectively bowl 53.33 percent dot deliveries. To be precise, Sri Lankan batters couldn’t manage to hit a six in their entire innings which shows a sheer dominance of Australian spin and pace attack.
