Australia won the toss and elected the field first in their second important match against South Africa. Australia was looking for some initial wickets but couldn’t manage to get a single and the partnership swelled to 108 when Bavuma departed. De Kock and Dussen added 50 runs for the second wicket. And after that, there was no flow in the innings. Australian blower comes back very well by mixing it up. At one stage South Africa was looking to score around 350 but the bowlers got things back in the later part of the inning.
Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers among all the Australian bowlers who bowled today. He bowled out 10 overs giving only 34 runs for 2 wickets. He has been bowling since Australia toured India just before the World Cup.
Mitchell Starc, Hazelwood Zampa, and Cummins all had something in their wickets column. Starc got two in the last over of the inning by bowling out Miller and Jensen. Just an lb was scored in the last over. Starc gave 53 runs in his 9 overs with a maiden. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa were a touch expensive giving 71 and 70 in 9 and 10.
South Africa put a handsome total on the board of 312 for the loss of 7 wickets. Australians were rusty on the field. They missed 7 catches today which is par below their standards.
