Both BAN and NZ Bring one change in their 11. Kiwi skipper returns in place of Will Young whilst Mehadi gives way to Mahmudullah.

Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan are down to the middle for coping with the Kiwi bowlers: Trent Boult and Matt Henry. The beginning prove a nightmare for Bangladesh as the lose Das on the very first ball. It’s the first golden duck of ICC Men’s ODI Cricket WC23. 

At the end of the 1st power play, BAN make 46 for 2 at 4.60 with the help of 8 boundaries. Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult pick one wicket each. 

The onset of the 2nd power play also brings chaos in the BAN batting line-up. BAN lose 2 quick wickets in the start. Shakib and Mushfiq rebuild the innings to put a fighting total on board. BAN add 47 from 11-20 hitting five 4s and one 6 at the RR of 4.70 almost similar to the 1st ten. 

Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib al Hasan hold their nerves in this crucial match against NZ. Both batters provide 96-runs stand off 108 balls for the 5th wicket to help Bangladesh post a fighting total at Chennai. Shakib al Hasan goes for his 40 off 51 hitting three 4s and two 6s. Mushfiq carries the innings and completes his 52-balls fifty. BAN are 152 for 5 at the end of 30. They have added 59 from 21-30 at 5.90.

Mushfiq’s brilliant knock comes to an end as Matt Henry strikes in the 36th over. Mushfiq tries to pull the slower one from Henry but odd bounce surprises Mushfiq whose off stump is ungrounded. He goes for 66 off 75 including six 4s and two 6s. BAN are in deep trouble now as they are 6 down for 175 at the end of 36.

Towhid Hridoy is deceived by the knuckle ball from Trent Boult who picks 2nd of the evening and completes his 200 ODI wickets this time. Hridoy plays it early and ball goes straight to short extra cover where Santer pockets it with perfection. Hridoy goes for 13 off 25 and BAN are 7 down for 180  at the end of 38.

Bangladesh end their innings posting 245 on board which means NZ have to make 246 runs with 4.92 RRR. The hit twnety 4s and eight 6s in their innings against Black Caps. Eight sixes are BAN most for an innings in the ICC Cricket Worldcups. Further, they add 56 runs in the final 10 for the loss of 2 wickets. Muhmadullah remains unbeaten on his 41 off 49.

Black caps show some serious discipline in their bowling department. Despite bowling 4 no balls they restrict Bangladesh under 250 which shows the strength they have in their bowling department. They restricted BAN on just 245 in 50 overs. 

Summarily, Kiwi spinners concede 81 runs in their 19 overs out of 50 at 4.26 averaging 40.50. Glenn Philips and Santner picks one each. On the other hand, the Kiwi pacers look lethal today as they pick 7 wickets giving away 163 runs. All three pacers finish their 10-overs quota whereas Daryll Mitchell only bowling his one and final of the BAN innings. Henry and Boult pick 2 wickets each for 58 and 45 respectively whereas Ferguson grabs 3 for 49. They bowl 31 overs altogether with the economy of 5.25 averaging just over 23.
