Sarwar Imran, the head coach of the Bangladesh women`s cricket team, has made a remarkable return to his duties just days after experiencing a minor stroke.
His swift comeback follows a stroke he suffered on Monday, which the Bangladesh team has consistently reassured was `minor`.
The 66-year-old coach was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, the day after the incident. By Wednesday, he was already participating in team training sessions and was present for the entire duration of Bangladesh`s seven-wicket victory over Pakistan. During the match, Imran primarily remained in the dressing room, preferring it over the dugout at the field`s edge.
Team manager S.M. Golam Faiyaz explained that Imran`s quick return was driven by his profound desire to support his players. “He didn`t want the players to be discouraged,” Faiyaz stated. “The doctor advised us to keep a close eye on him, and we are diligently doing so. However, he is feeling better.”
Following their recent win in Colombo – the southernmost venue of this World Cup – the Bangladesh team is scheduled to fly to Guwahati, the northernmost venue, on a charter flight on Friday morning. Imran is fully expected to accompany the team on this journey. Their next highly anticipated match is against England on Tuesday.
