La Liga giants Barcelona have commenced discussions with the agent of João Cancelo concerning a potential permanent transfer for the Portuguese defender this summer. Cancelo is currently midway through a six-month loan stint in the Catalan capital.
Over recent weeks, due to various injury concerns on both flanks, the former Manchester City player has played an increasingly prominent role under the guidance of Hansi Flick. Throughout this period, Cancelo has largely impressed, showcasing his abilities particularly in offensive contributions.
It is therefore unsurprising that Barcelona is eager to secure the versatile full-back beyond the conclusion of his current loan agreement. Speaking on his official YouTube channel, renowned market insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed: “Barcelona have already started discussing with the agent of the player, Jorge Mendes, how to keep João Cancelo at the club.”
The next critical step for the Blaugrana will involve opening negotiations with the 31-year-old’s parent club, Al-Hilal, to finalize the prospective move.
