Barcelona, the champions of La Liga, held discussions over the weekend with representatives of Newcastle United’s talented player, Anthony Gordon.
This meeting comes as Barcelona, also known as the Blaugrana, have identified the English international as a key target for their attacking reinforcements this summer.
Sporting director Deco and his team are expected to bolster the offensive options for manager Hansi Flick, especially with questions surrounding the future of players like Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Marcus Rashford.
A preliminary list of potential signings has been compiled, notably including Julián Álvarez.
However, the club is also exploring alternative options, with wingers and strikers from across Europe and beyond currently on Barcelona’s radar.
As previously mentioned, recent days have seen the initiation of negotiations for one of these potential targets.
According to a report from transfer expert Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:
“Anthony Gordon’s agents held a meeting with Deco! The Blaugrana’s sporting director met with the agents of the British left winger last Saturday. The option is currently very complicated, although the player is highly regarded.”
The agents of Anthony Gordon met with Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, last Saturday. While the player is highly admired, the transfer is considered very difficult at this time.
