Barcelona has identified another La Liga forward as a potential alternative to their primary attacking target, Julián Álvarez, for the upcoming summer transfer window. The player in question is Mikel Oyarzabal.
It is widely known that Barcelona is seeking reinforcements in their attacking department in preparation for the 2026/27 season. Following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, the Catalan club has reportedly set its sights on Julián Álvarez.
However, Atlético Madrid has repeatedly stated publicly that their star goalscorer is not for sale. In fact, Atlético Madrid’s CEO, Miguel Angel Gil, has directly addressed the situation, emphasizing that the club has no intention of selling Álvarez and that any claims otherwise are untrue.
Consequently, Deco and the Barcelona management have been compelled to develop a backup plan. As indicated earlier, the leading name on Barcelona’s list of alternatives has been revealed this week.
According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito TV, Barcelona is actively working on signing Mikel Oyarzabal from Real Sociedad.
The versatile attacker Oyarzabal is coming off an impressive performance for Spain at the World Cup, where he earned a Man of the Match award following a dominant 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.
