La Liga leaders Barcelona have provided updates regarding the fitness of two key first-team players, Ronald Araújo and Marc Bernal, following their premature departures from Saturday’s important match against Atlético Madrid.
The Catalan club secured a significant 2-1 victory over Atlético, further extending their lead at the top of the league table to a full seven points. However, the win came with a cost, as both players were forced to leave the field due to injury concerns.
During the first half, defender Ronald Araújo had to be substituted due to a fitness issue. His replacement, Marc Bernal, subsequently also left the action early with an injury.
A day after the match, Barcelona released official statements regarding the conditions of both players.
As confirmed by the club, Ronald Araújo has a minor muscle strain in his left thigh. Encouragingly, he is expected to be available for Wednesday’s upcoming match, also against Atlético Madrid. Marc Bernal, on the other hand, has suffered a sprain in his left ankle. His return to play will depend on the evolution and recovery process of his injury.
