A key defender from La Liga champions Barcelona was conspicuously absent from Saturday’s group training session. The player in question is Eric García.
Defender Eric had already caused concern in Catalonia’s capital earlier in the week, having been forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s decisive Champions League victory over Newcastle United.
Following that match, it was confirmed that Eric had experienced a minor setback in his ongoing recovery from a recent muscle issue. Despite this, assurances were initially given that the former Manchester City player was not expected to face another extended period out of action.
However, with Barcelona’s next match against Rayo Vallecano just 24 hours away, Eric reportedly remained sidelined. He was notably absent from the final training session conducted by Hansi Flick and his staff on Saturday.
