Barcelona transfer target confirms exit plans

Football & Cricket

Atlético Madrid star and Barcelona transfer target Julián Alvarez has this week dropped something of a bombshell on his current employers.

This comes by way of a public announcement, confirming his intention to move on this summer.

Frontman Alvarez has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines across Spain for several weeks now, amid links with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The former have long been considered the favourites to land the former Manchester City standout, amid an ongoing search for Robert Lewandowski’s replacement.

And as alluded to above, early this week, Barcelona have seen their hopes afforded a significant boost.

Drawn on his future during an interview with ESPN (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) whilst on international duty, Alvarez did not hesitate in revealing his intention to find a new club for next season:

“I don’t want to hide or act like I don’t want to be clear. I try to be honest. I spoke to Atlético people and I think the best for everyone involved is for me to leave. I want to fulfil my dream.”
