La Liga giants Barcelona have reportedly settled on a preferred centre-forward option to remain with the club for the upcoming season. The favored candidate is said to be Robert Lewandowski.
It’s widely anticipated that Barcelona will strengthen their attacking options this summer, seeking a new primary striker for manager Hansi Flick. However, either Robert Lewandowski or Ferran Torres will be required to serve as a backup option.
Current media reports suggest that Lewandowski is the frontrunner for this supportive role. Sources indicate that Ferran Torres, whose contract is set to expire in 2027, is more likely to be moved on than Robert Lewandowski. This is primarily because this summer presents the last significant opportunity for the club to receive a substantial transfer fee for the Spain international, which could then be reinvested in new signings for the squad.
Furthermore, club president Joan Laporta is reportedly eager to extend Lewandowski’s contract terms as soon as possible, reinforcing the club’s desire to keep the Polish striker.
