Reports indicate that Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are making significant progress in their efforts to secure the transfer of Maghnes Akliouche, the highly-rated 23-year-old midfielder from AS Monaco. The proposed deal is said to be around €50 million, a figure that falls short of Monaco’s initial summer valuation of €70 million.
Akliouche, a France youth international, has attracted considerable attention from top clubs across Europe throughout the current transfer window. Among the teams reportedly showing interest are Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Arsenal, in addition to Bayer Leverkusen. Despite the widespread speculation, Akliouche currently remains a player for AS Monaco.
Addressing the ongoing transfer rumors at a recent press conference, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro commented on the situation surrounding the promising midfielder’s future:
“We can’t control what happens outside. It is normal that Maghnes Akliouche is on the lists of the top clubs. We have our conditions, though. When this is the game, we are here to protect ourselves. He can stay or they can go – that is relevant to all players.”
It appears that Bayer Leverkusen has emerged as the most determined suitor for Akliouche. The midfielder is reportedly considered a “dream target” for the German club, which is actively engaged in discussions with Akliouche’s representatives. The pursuit of the young talent has reportedly received internal approval, with the club aiming to finalize the €50 million agreement with Monaco.
