Before the AUS vs. PAK series, Wasim Akram gives some sly advise to Hafeez and company: “Don’t hold press conferences.” After the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had a dismal campaign in the ICC World Cup in India, legendary cricketer Wasim Akram delighted his supporters with a special message for the newly appointed office bearers. Champions in the 1992 edition of the 50-over match, Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam, were unable to guarantee their place in the ICC event’s last four. Pakistan came in fifth place in the ICC World Cup 2023 rankings, led by Babar.

After a disastrous World Cup performance in India, Pakistan’s best batsman Babar resigned from his position as captain. While Shaheen Afridi was named captain of the Twenty20 International team by PCB, Babar was replaced by Shan Masood, who will lead Pakistan in its first away series following the 2023 World Cup. Additionally, former all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez was appointed head coach and team director by Pakistan’s highest cricket authority.

As head coach in Australia and New Zealand, Hafeez will assist the Babar-led team. In November, the PCB also named Wahab Riaz, a former pacer, as the chairman of the selection committee. For Pakistan’s three-match series in Australia, the former fast bowler chose the Test team.

The Green Army will travel Australia and then play a five-match Twenty20 International series against New Zealand. Former captain of Pakistan Akram announced the arrival of his team for the Australia series on X, which was once known as Twitter. The renowned fast bowler, Hafeez and co., received a remarkable communication from him asking the Pakistani think tank to refrain from organising press conferences.

Akram further asked supporters to let PCB office bearers a minimum of one year to validate their selections. “I’m wishing the Pakistani squad the best of luck for the Test series as they have arrived in Australia. Wahab Riaz has assumed the role of top selector, replacing Mohammad Hafeez as team director for the Pakistan Cricket Board.

With Kamran Akmal and everyone else. These cricket players are active right now. This is their chance; let’s give them a year or so to establish their worth. One other piece of advice: avoid scheduling press briefings every three minutes. Adhere to your choices and show courage,” Wasim remarked.
