Bologna`s Federico Bernardeschi recently shared insights into his impactful years at Juventus, revealing that the club`s formidable dominance stemmed from its strong Italian core and the profound values instilled by its veteran leaders.
During an interview on the BSMT podcast, with quotes reported by DiMarzio, the Bologna winger reflected on how pivotal figures at the Turin club profoundly shaped his development as a player.
Bernardeschi stated, “The Juventus team I was part of always had a strong emphasis on Italian players at its core.”

He elaborated, explaining that veterans like Buffon, Bonucci, Chiellini, Marchisio, and Barzagli were instrumental in teaching younger players the significance of representing Juventus and adhering to its principles. “One day it would be your turn to pass those values on. That was the secret of Juve,” he noted, highlighting this mentorship as the foundation of their achievements.
Bernardeschi`s Bologna Experience and World Cup Dream
Bernardeschi also expressed his satisfaction with his current club, Bologna, remarking on the positive team atmosphere: “There is a beautiful group here, with important values.”
He added that he received an excellent reception from his teammates, the city, and the fans.
Following a three-year stint with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer, Bernardeschi confirmed his move back to Italy was largely driven by his desire to rejoin the national team and compete in the upcoming World Cup.

“I came back also for the World Cup,” he stated, emphasizing his primary goal. “We won the Euros, but I`ve never played at a World Cup. That experience is still missing.”
Bernardeschi joined Bologna on a free transfer during the summer, securing a two-year contract with an option for an additional third year, marking his return to Serie A.
