Brazilian club Botafogo has initiated discussions with Inter Milan regarding a potential transfer for striker Mehdi Taremi. The forward is reportedly available for departure after a single, unimpactful season with the Italian giants.
The Iranian international arrived at Inter on a free transfer from FC Porto last summer. However, he has struggled to establish himself in Serie A, managing only one goal across 26 league appearances.
Given the established presence of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, the recent arrival of Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma, Francesco Pio Esposito`s anticipated increased role, and ongoing negotiations for Ademola Lookman, the 33-year-old Taremi`s place in the squad appears limited.

Botafogo Presents an Exit Opportunity for Taremi from Inter
ESPN Brazil indicates that Botafogo is actively pursuing a transfer deal for Taremi during the current window.
While Inter acquired Taremi on a free transfer, they are expected to seek a transfer fee, as the player remains under contract for two more years.
Botafogo reportedly feels `optimistic` about reaching an agreement, having offered Taremi a two-and-a-half-year contract extending until the close of 2027.

Botafogo joins a list of clubs, including West Ham United, Fulham, and Besiktas, who have previously shown interest in the player.
Intriguingly, Botafogo had also explored signing Taremi when he was still with FC Porto.
Notably, Botafogo recently acquired another former Inter forward, Joaquin Correa, on a free transfer earlier this summer after his contract expired.
