Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Matt O`Riley, aged 24, is reportedly poised to join French giants Olympique de Marseille on a season-long loan deal. The Danish international`s move will see him spend the remainder of the current campaign in the south of France.
Having made two appearances for Brighton in the Premier League this season, O`Riley is set to embark on a new challenge in Ligue 1. The move comes as Marseille intensifies its recruitment efforts ahead of the transfer deadline, particularly after a recent loss to Olympique Lyonnais, their second defeat in three matches.
Marseille is looking to bolster its squad, and the departure of Adrien Rabiot has created a significant void in the club`s midfield. O`Riley is expected to step into this role, providing a much-needed boost to their ranks.
Reports confirm that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for a straightforward loan arrangement. Crucially, the deal does not include an option for Marseille to make the transfer permanent. O`Riley is anticipated to arrive in Marseille today to finalize all aspects of his temporary move.
