Nineteen-year-old Mamadou Sarr is poised to return to RC Strasbourg Alsace for a season-long loan spell from Chelsea, the Premier League club he moved to earlier this summer. According to reports, this agreement does not include an option for Strasbourg to buy the player permanently.
The young French international had a standout season with Strasbourg last year, making a significant impact during his inaugural professional campaign in Ligue 1. His impressive performances led to a €20 million transfer to Chelsea in June. Since joining the Blues, he has had some exposure to the first-team setup.
Despite a brief period training with Chelsea`s senior squad, the club has decided to send the promising defender back to Alsace. This move aims to ensure he gains consistent playing time crucial for his continued growth and development.
Sarr is expected to arrive in Strasbourg later this week. He will join a defensive unit that includes Ismaël Doukouré, who has recently drawn transfer interest, alongside Soumaïla Coulibaly, Abakar Sylla, and Andrew Omobamidele. The defender, a product of Lyon`s academy, remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
