Chelsea scouts have reportedly been dispatched to observe Bologna`s talented 21-year-old forward, Santiago Castro, as the London club reportedly considers a potential move. The young Argentine, a centre-forward by trade, has caught the attention of the Premier League giants.
Despite only recently celebrating his 21st birthday, Castro is already on the cusp of Argentina`s senior national team, having previously excelled in their youth ranks at various levels. His rapid progression marks him as a player with significant future potential.
Reports from Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino, echoed by Tuttomercatoweb, indicate that Chelsea representatives were present to scrutinize Castro`s performance. This suggests a keen interest in his development and a careful monitoring of his progress in Serie A.
While no official bids have been made at this stage, the promising young striker is clearly a player of interest to Chelsea`s Italian coach, Enzo Maresca, who is building his squad for the upcoming seasons.
Castro Interest Levels Are Growing

Bologna is fully cognizant of the increasing attention surrounding their promising forward. He was previously a transfer target for Italian club Inter and Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, managed by Simone Inzaghi, during the last summer transfer window, indicating widespread recognition of his talent.
Castro joined Bologna from Velez Sarsfield in January 2024 for a fee of €13.2 million, with his current contract extending until June 2028. This long-term deal gives Bologna a strong negotiating position.
This season, Castro has registered one goal and one assist across five Serie A appearances, demonstrating glimpses of his ability to impact games at the highest level of Italian football.
Should Bologna decide to part ways with the player, his market valuation is estimated to be in the significant region of €45-50 million, reflecting his age, potential, and the growing interest from top European clubs.
