Club Brugge has surprisingly opted not to sell defender Joël Ordoñez (21) to Marseille, despite the French club meeting their €30 million asking price. According to a report by Sacha Tavolieri, Marseille`s offer, totaling €25 million plus an additional €5 million in add-ons, was for the services of the Ecuadorian international centre-back.
The Belgian Jupiler Pro League club initially set a €30 million valuation for the 21-year-old. However, after Marseille submitted their matching bid on Thursday, Brugge unexpectedly reversed their decision. This sudden change of heart is reportedly due to a miscommunication between the club`s owner and its senior management.
Ordoñez`s Frustration Boils Over
The Ecuadorian defender is reportedly furious with Club Brugge`s stance, as he keenly desires the move to Les Olympiens. He missed training today and has explicitly communicated his wish to join Marseille. An emergency meeting between Ordoñez and the club`s management is scheduled for this Saturday to address the escalating transfer situation and seek a resolution.
