Como 1907 has issued an official statement following the Italian Football Federation`s (FIGC) rejection of their appeal against the suspensions handed to player Jesús Rodríguez and coach Cesc Fàbregas. The club had previously submitted an appeal contesting the Serie A disciplinary actions, which arose from the 1-1 draw against Cremonese on September 27. Today, the Disciplinary Commission confirmed the rejection of Como`s appeal, finalizing the decision.
Como Accepts Rejection of Appeal
In an official statement, Como acknowledged, “Following the decision of the Italian Football Federation to reject our appeal and confirm the suspensions of Jesús Rodríguez and Cesc Fàbregas, Como respects the process and accepts the outcome.”
The statement continued, “We thank the Federation for taking the time to review our submissions and remain committed to upholding the rules and values of the league. Our focus now is on the matches ahead and on responding with professionalism, unity and respect for the competition.”
Jesús Rodríguez received a three-match suspension, while head coach Cesc Fàbregas was banned from the touchline for two rounds and issued a fine. The forward`s dismissal occurred in the 82nd minute due to an off-the-ball incident involving Filippo Terracciano, during which Rodríguez tripped the Cremonese player and then aimed a fist at him.
Having already been suspended for the match against Atalanta, Rodríguez will now also miss crucial fixtures against Juventus and Parma. Consequently, Fàbregas will also be absent from the touchline for the upcoming clash against Juventus.
