Sky Sport Italia reports indicate that Como, under Cesc Fabregas` leadership, has declined a substantial €40 million transfer bid from Tottenham Hotspur for their rising star, Nico Paz. Real Madrid retains significant interest in the player, holding a 50% sell-on clause and several attractive buy-back options for his future.
Como Stands Firm on Nico Paz Valuation Amid Transfer Interest
Paz, recognized as one of the most promising breakout talents of the 2024-25 Serie A season, has drawn considerable attention from numerous elite European clubs this summer. Earlier in the transfer window, he was linked with a potential return to Real Madrid and a move to Inter Milan.
Sky Sport Italia confirms that Tottenham`s recent €40 million proposal for the Argentine prodigy was definitively turned down by Como. According to reports from Thursday, Como would only consider selling the 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who is widely regarded as one of Europe`s most exciting prospects, for a fee closer to €70 million. Sky further indicates that a bid in the region of €60 million might be sufficient to open negotiations with Como.
Tottenham`s urgent pursuit of Paz comes after significant changes to their squad. The club recently saw the departure of long-standing fan-favorite Heung-min Son, who moved to LAFC after a decade with the London club. Additionally, recent reports on Thursday confirmed that attacking midfielder James Maddison will be sidelined for a considerable portion of the 2025-26 season due to a cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. These events underscore Tottenham`s pressing need for attacking reinforcements.
Meanwhile, Como has been actively working to negotiate the removal of Real Madrid`s various buy-back clauses for Nico Paz. Real Madrid currently possesses the option to reacquire the 20-year-old for a mere €9 million until June 30, 2026, with the fee rising to €10 million for the subsequent year. Furthermore, the existing agreement includes a 50% sell-on clause, which means Como would have only netted €20 million from Tottenham`s rejected €40 million bid if it had been accepted.
While Real Madrid previously confirmed they would not activate their buy-back option this summer, the possibility of them doing so in the next two years remains open, adding another layer of complexity to Paz`s future.
