AC Milan icon Alessandro Costacurta has lauded new acquisitions Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, asserting that their presence has significantly enhanced the team`s leadership qualities. His remarks came after the Rossoneri`s recent 2-1 victory against Napoli.
Following the triumph over last season`s Scudetto champions, Costacurta shared his insights with Sky Sport, stating, “I believe there is a remarkable level of leadership within the team now, more pronounced than ever before. We are discussing two players of truly international calibre.”
Modric and Rabiot: Experienced Additions to Milan`s Squad
Luka Modric made his move to Milan this summer on a free transfer, arriving after the expiration of his contract with Real Madrid. Despite being 40 years old, the veteran midfielder has swiftly allayed any concerns regarding his age, delivering a compelling start to the season.
Adrien Rabiot, conversely, joined from Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille during the latter stages of the summer transfer window. The former Juventus player had faced a suspension from the French club following a dressing room altercation with Jonathan Rowe, who also departed Marseille this summer for Serie A, joining Bologna.
Costacurta further elaborated on the team`s cohesive play, remarking, “This is a squad where all eleven players are actively running and pressing the opposition. Gimenez, for instance, consistently puts in the work, not only advancing but also diligently assisting his teammates. The team demonstrates excellent collective movement.”
Concluding his analysis, Costacurta reflected on the evolution of leadership dynamics within the club over the past year. “The leadership roles from the previous year have evolved. This season, we’ve seen the arrival of two more players who, in terms of leadership, are arguably even more influential.”
