It was a crucial partnership for Afghanistan from Azmatullah Omarzai and Hashmatullah to push India on the back foot. Azmatullah Omarzai and Hashmatullah added 121 runs partnership in 127 balls. It was a well-paced partnership for both batters. They try to steady the ship in the initial phase of the partnership. Tried to score in a ball at the start. But then they start to attack their main bowlers, Siraj, Bumrah, and Kuldeep. They leaked too many runs in this phase.

Early on Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. The Afghanistan captain said that he wanted to put a huge total on the board and then test them with the spinners we have.
