Roberto De Zerbi, formerly Brighton`s head coach, once declared that Pervis Estupiñán possessed the ability to evolve into one of the globe`s premier left-backs. These past remarks have resurfaced recently, following reports linking the Ecuadorian defender to a potential transfer to AC Milan.
Speculation regarding the 27-year-old`s future at Brighton, where he previously played under De Zerbi, has grown in recent days. AC Milan is reportedly considering the talented left-back as a potential successor to Theo Hernandez, who departed the club for Al-Hilal this summer.

De Zerbi`s Endorsement of Estupiñán
Two years ago, while coaching Estupiñán at Brighton, De Zerbi (quoted by PianetaMilan) stated, “Pervis is undeniably one of our most crucial players.” He highlighted Estupiñán`s versatility, noting, “He began as a left-back, but he can also contribute significantly in attack.”
De Zerbi further characterized the Ecuadorian as “highly intelligent” and commended his development in “improving his first touch and passing” under his tutelage, adding, “I`m constantly encouraging him to push his limits.”

The current Marseille coach reiterated his belief, asserting that “if he perfects his first touch and passing abilities, I believe he has the potential to become one of the top left-backs globally.”
Although Estupiñán hasn`t quite reached superstar status since De Zerbi`s departure from Brighton, AC Milan might find encouragement in the fact that a respected coach like De Zerbi recognized such significant, undeveloped talent in the player.
