According to reports, Derby County has won the competition to sign 24-year-old US international Patrick Agyemang. The English club successfully beat out both RC Lens and OGC Nice for the forward`s signature. Both French teams had been targeting Agyemang this summer as they looked to strengthen their attacking options. However, the player is now expected to finalize his transfer to the Championship side.
Nice has already added to their squad in preparation for a season where they aim to qualify for the Champions League group stage through the preliminary rounds. They recently completed a deal for 23-year-old Swedish youth international Isak Jansson from Rapid Wien. However, their transfer business is not yet concluded, with Gaëtan Laborde potentially nearing an exit and Evann Guessand still attracting interest from multiple clubs.
For Lens, the search for attacking improvements has been prolonged. The club is looking to enhance a forward line that underperformed significantly last campaign. “Les Sang et Or” recorded the least effective attack among the top half of Ligue 1 teams, managing only 42 goals across 34 matches. Lens has seen several potential signings slip away, with Agyemang now being the second player who has opted for the second tier of English football over a move to them.
