Sassuolo has officially announced that their distinguished club veteran, Domenico Berardi, has signed a new long-term contract extension. This significant agreement could keep the prolific forward at the club until he reaches the age of 35.
Berardi, a player who has dedicated his entire senior career to the Neroverdi, has formalized his commitment with a new deal set to run until the summer of 2029, as confirmed by the club`s official announcement.
Over his 13 years with the senior squad, the 31-year-old has been an indispensable figure, making an impressive 400 competitive appearances across all competitions. During this remarkable tenure, he has found the back of the net 148 times, with 122 of those goals scored in Serie A, cementing his legacy as a true club icon.
“Sassuolo is my home,” Berardi declared in a statement published on the club’s official website. “Being part of Sassuolo means being part of a family. The black and green jersey represents my history, my career, and my passion. I became both a man and a footballer here, and I am happy to continue experiencing these unique emotions in these colours.”
He further expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’d like to thank the Squinzi family, the management, the whole club, the staff, my teammates and the fans for always being by my side. There is still so much to experience together!”
Berardi is expected to return to Italy’s top flight in the 2025-26 season. His decision to remain with Sassuolo underscores his unwavering loyalty, even after the club`s relegation to Serie B at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
