The position of Italy`s international goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, at Paris Saint-Germain is increasingly uncertain due to disagreements over a potential new contract. This situation has reportedly placed English Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City on high alert.
Donnarumma originally joined PSG on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021. He is now entering the final year of his current deal with the Parisian club.
Donnarumma has no shortage of suitors
According to reports from the French newspaper L`Equipe, the prominent Nazionale player has clearly stated his intention to maintain his current salary terms if he signs a new contract, particularly following significant achievements with the club.
Conversely, the club has reportedly proposed a different structure, where up to one-third of his salary would be based on performance metrics, including the number of games played, among other conditions.
Such a performance-based arrangement could lead to a considerable reduction in his potential earnings and might also encourage coach Luis Enrique to foster greater competition for playing time among the goalkeepers.
L`Equipe highlights that although Donnarumma prioritizes extending his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, he is not lacking in alternative options. Interest is particularly strong from the Premier League, with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all mentioned as potential destinations.
Furthermore, there have been reports in Italy suggesting possible approaches from clubs there, including Juventus and even Inter, who are rivals of his former club AC Milan.
