Donnarumma’s Contract Dilemma: PSG’s Growing Concern Amid Chelsea Interest

Football & Cricket

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly growing anxious over the stalled negotiations for a new contract with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, particularly as Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation.

The Italian international moved to PSG as a free agent from AC Milan in 2021, securing a substantial salary given the absence of a transfer fee.

However, his current deal is nearing its end, set to expire in June 2026, raising the significant possibility that PSG could lose him without a transfer fee once again.

French outlet RMC Sport indicates that PSG`s apprehension stems from the ongoing impasse in contract discussions.

While Donnarumma consistently states his desire to stay with Paris Saint-Germain, he is reportedly firm on maintaining his €12 million per season salary and unwilling to accept a reduction.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper has been a vital player for the club, contributing significantly to their Champions League success, reaching the FIFA Club World Cup Final, and securing various Ligue 1 and domestic trophies.

Should Donnarumma depart, a return to Serie A is a distinct possibility, with Inter Milan and Juventus reportedly keen. However, RMC Sport suggests that Chelsea remains the leading candidate to acquire the highly-rated shot-stopper.
