Donnarumma’s Emotional Farewell as PSG Teammates Orchestrate Goodbye to Fans

Football & Cricket

After a 1-0 victory over Angers, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was visibly emotional as he bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain fans. His departure from the club appears to have been initiated by the management.

Last season, Donnarumma played a pivotal role in PSG`s historic Champions League triumph, capping off his contributions to winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the French Super Cup. Despite these successes, he was reportedly told to find a new club this summer. PSG is said to be unwilling to maintain his current wages, and his existing contract is set to expire in June 2026.

The Italy national team hero was even excluded from the squad for the UEFA Super Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur and the Ligue 1 home game against Angers, which took place today.

Nevertheless, during the celebrations following the 1-0 victory, as the team reflected on their many trophies, Donnarumma`s teammates formed a circle and pushed him forward to receive the fans` applause. Notably, head coach Luis Enrique and the PSG directors were on the other side of the pitch at this moment, confirming that this touching gesture was solely an initiative of the players.

Captain Marquinhos then embraced a visibly moved Donnarumma and continued to rally cheers and chants for the Italian, ensuring he toured the entire stadium to salute all the supporters. The goalkeeper is expected to join Manchester City next.
