“Eating eight kg of mutton a day,” Wasim Akram criticizes Pakistan for its unexpected defeat by Afghanistan. Former captain of Pakistan and one of the best left-arm fast bowlers of all time, Wasim Akram, is furious about Pakistan’s humiliating loss to Afghanistan on Monday.

The side led by Hashmatullah Shahidi was able to successfully chase a goal of 283 runs thanks to the solid starts made by openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 65 and 87 runs, respectively.  After them, skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi and opener Rahmat Shah both had excellent innings, scoring 48 and 77 runs, respectively. Following the event, Ibrahim Zadran was again named Man of the Match. 

Afghanistan defeated the Men in Green in Chennai by 8 wickets to record their first-ever victory in One-Day Internationals against Pakistan. This marked the side captained by Hashmatullah Shahidi’s second victory in the ongoing World Cup 2023. Afghanistan had defeated England in the previous meeting. 

In the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Pakistan is in a precarious situation, and Akram gave the Babar Azam-led team a severe dressing down. He claimed that the players appeared to be “gobbling 8 kgs of mutton everyday” and that the loss to Afghanistan was embarrassing.

He continued by saying that Misbah-ul-Haq had specific fitness requirements for the Pakistani cricket team while he was the team’s coach. He added that despite the players’ animosity toward Misbah for the requirements, the team benefited from them. 

The Sultan of Swing, Akram, went on to say that the Pakistani team is woefully unfit for fielding, which is the foundation of the game.

Akram trained his sights against the current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) administration after criticizing the current Pakistan side for their lack of fitness.  He chastised the Pakistani cricket board for making snap choices, such deciding to play the Asia Cup in a hybrid format in Sri Lanka in 2023.
