AS Saint-Étienne has officially announced the signing of 22-year-old left-back Ebenezer Annan from Red Star Belgrade (Crvena zvezda) on a three-year contract, reinforcing their squad for the upcoming season.
Annan emerged from Bologna`s academy, making his professional debut for the Serie A club in 2021. However, opportunities were scarce, as he made only one additional appearance for his boyhood team before seeking pathways elsewhere.
Subsequently, the defender embarked on loan spells, first joining Italian lower-tier side Imolese Calcio for the 2022/23 season, where he featured in 28 matches. This was followed by another loan spell, this time with Serbian club FK Novi Pazar during the 2023/24 campaign, further developing his experience.
It was during his time in Serbia that Annan caught the eye of Crvena zvezda, who subsequently acquired him from Bologna. However, his journey remained dynamic; his new club initially loaned him to OFK Belgrade for the 2024/25 season before opting to recall him midway through the campaign, indicating their plans for him.
Saint-Étienne harbors strong hopes that Annan will be instrumental in their immediate return to Ligue 1 following their recent promotion. The club`s season is set to commence this weekend with an away fixture against Stade Lavallois, marking Annan`s potential debut.
