Juventus has successfully completed the transfer of winger Edon Zhegrova (26) from Lille OSC in a deal reportedly valued at over €20 million. The Italian club secured the player`s signature, overcoming a spirited pursuit from rival club Olympique de Marseille.
Marseille had shown significant interest in Zhegrova, particularly as his contract with Lille was nearing its conclusion. The French side was reportedly keen on bolstering their squad, especially after the departure of Jonathan Rowe (22) to Bologna following an incident involving Adrien Rabiot (30). Initial reports even suggested that Marseille had reached an agreement on personal terms with Zhegrova earlier in the week.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Lille`s president, Olivier Létang, publicly denied any contact from Marseille regarding the player, stating he had not granted permission for negotiations. This led to further reports indicating that Lille was unwilling to discuss a transfer with Marseille.
Capitalizing on this development, Juventus, who had also been monitoring Zhegrova, swiftly entered the fray. Their bid, exceeding €20 million, was accepted by Lille, affectionately known as “Les Dogues.” Following this, personal terms were quickly finalized with Zhegrova, paving the way for his move to the Serie A giants.
