The highly anticipated transfer of 21-year-old midfielder Soungoutou Magassa to West Ham United now faces an unexpected and dramatic turn. It had appeared to be a mere formality, with West Ham having already secured an agreement with AS Monaco for a reported €20 million, a sum that includes various performance-related bonuses. The promising France youth international had not only agreed to personal terms, committing to a six-year contract, but had also successfully completed his medical examination. At this stage, only the official announcement of his move to the London club remained pending.
However, the deal is now at risk of collapsing in the eleventh hour due to a late intervention from Eintracht Frankfurt. According to reports from Foot Mercato, the German Bundesliga side has submitted a last-minute offer for the talented Monaco midfielder. Their proposal includes an initial loan deal, which would convert into a permanent transfer at the end of the current season.
Eintracht Frankfurt is reportedly making a strong push to convince Magassa to join their ranks over West Ham. Crucially, Foot Mercato indicates that the player himself is said to be significantly enticed by the prospect of moving to the German club, potentially leaving West Ham`s long-planned acquisition in jeopardy.
