Uzbekistan international Eldor Shomurodov has officially finalized his transfer from AS Roma to Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir. The agreement is initially a loan deal which includes an option for Basaksehir to purchase the player permanently at a later stage.
While official figures were not disclosed in full detail, various media reports suggest the total potential value of the transfer could reach approximately €7 million. This figure is reportedly structured as a €3 million fee for the initial loan period, followed by a €3 million option to buy, and a further €1 million contingent on performance-related bonuses. The deal is also said to include a clause giving Roma a percentage of any future sale of the player by Basaksehir.
The 30-year-old forward originally moved to Roma from Genoa in 2021 in a transfer reportedly worth €19.6 million. During his tenure with the Giallorossi, Shomurodov also spent time on loan spells with Serie A clubs Spezia and Cagliari.
Shomurodov leaves Roma having made 85 competitive appearances for the club, during which he scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists. Despite these contributions, he was rarely a consistent starter in the team.
Statistically, the most recent season was one of his strongest in terms of output, recording seven goals and five assists across 37 official matches, largely during his loan at Cagliari.
Istanbul Basaksehir marked Shomurodov`s arrival with a presentation that notably highlighted his standing in Uzbek football. They referenced his achievement as the all-time leading goalscorer for the Uzbekistan national team and his crucial role in helping them secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be the nation`s first ever participation in the tournament.
