Emanuel Emegha Named Strasbourg Captain

Football & Cricket

Football club RC Strasbourg has officially announced that 22-year-old Emanuel Emegha has been appointed as the team`s captain for the upcoming season.

Last season, the captain`s armband was worn by Habib Diarra. However, as widely expected, he departed the club this summer, joining Sunderland in a significant transfer deal that secured a record fee for “Les Alsaciens.”

Andrey Santos also led the team as captain on several occasions during the last season, but he too has since returned to his parent club, Chelsea.

Consequently, Emegha has been elected as Strasbourg`s new captain. The Dutchman, who transferred to the club from Sturm Graz in 2023 for €13 million, has already made 60 appearances for the French side.

During his time with Strasbourg, he has scored 23 goals and provided five assists. This current season might be Emegha`s last at the Stade de la Meinau. Reports suggest there is an agreement in place for him to join Chelsea, which is also owned by BlueCo, next summer.
